Offering an Alternative and a Chance

The Aspire program came about as a response to the increasing and severe impoverishment of single mothers and their children.

Established in 2008, Aspire's original mission was to provide economic, social and personal opportunity to single parent families through higher education. In 2010, Aspire identified an under-served segment of the nation's population - surviving military spouses. With funding from BAE Systems, Inc., the Surviving Spouse Support Program was established. We found that the immense financial, educational, and emotional support needed by these families requires a holistic approach. Due to the lack of such programs within the military sector, in 2014 Aspire decided its sole mission will be to provide financial and emotional assistance to surviving military spouses and family caregivers of disabled veterans.
